Who do we serve

Dance City is a competition dance studio based in North Minneapolis, established in 2015. Notably, 95% of our dancers hail from low-income single-parent households, with 30% having experienced having one or both parents incarcerated. 15% of our dancers are currently or have been in foster care and 7% currently live with someone who is not their parent. Despite facing significant challenges, these talented dancers exhibit resilience by attending practices, dedicating themselves to hard work, and flourishing. Dance City serves as a sanctuary within their community, providing a safe environment where they can learn, evolve, be free and express themselves authentically through dance.

OUR GOALS

One of goals is to provide affordable dance classes that open doors for talented dancers, offering them the opportunity to compete regionally, nationally and learn from world-renowned institutions. We believe that everyone, regardless of financial background, deserves access to high-quality dance education. Through this initiative, dancers will not only receive training from some of the best in the city and industry, but they will also have the chance to showcase their talents by performing at various venues across the city and the United States. Our goal is to continue to inspire, empower, and elevate dancers, providing them with the skills, confidence, and exposure they need to thrive in the world of dance.
